Rebuilding Communities

We pride ourselves on helping Veterans create and sustain a healthy, suitable lifestyle when returning home from war. Every warrior has a next mission — and we are their partner in that mission.

We are here for their first step, and each step that follows, because we believe every Veteran should have a positive future. There's always another goal to achieve, another mission to discover.

Our Story

We Want Green, Too! is a grassroots, community-led nonprofit founded by Gloria J. Lowe in 2007 — inspired by her work with Veterans at the Detroit Veterans Center.

Our Purpose

To be a self-sufficient, independent, sovereign people — to live in the world we believe is possible through building a sustainable community that recognizes our humanity.

Team Work First

Teamwork is at the heart of everything we do. Our mission to create sustainable housing in Detroit is powered by collaboration between community members, local leaders, and especially the Veterans we proudly bring into our workforce. We believe in second chances and shared purpose.

"No Veteran should be without a place to call HOME!"
— Gloria J. Lowe, We Want Green Too
Our Mission
